So now that the pendulum is swinging in favor of creativity, children’s authors are having a field day. And I’m so glad. I’m glad not only because this allows me to bring some great new books into the lives of the children I teach, but also because I feel like these books are an inspiration to the adults who read them. Or maybe that’s just me. Either way, here are three of my favorite new books that are sure to stimulate some interesting conversation, no matter what your age. Their common theme: Believe in the beauty of your ideas. Here they are, along with some of my favorite quotes from each book.
What Do You Do With an Idea? by Kobi Yamada and Mae Besom
“And then, I realized what you do with an idea…You change the world.”
Seaver the Weaver by Paul Czajak
“This time, he held his head high. I like my web. It is unique.”
The Extraordinary Mr. Qwerty by Karla Strambini
“The world, from that moment on, was never quite the same.”
